Ashish and I met through a common friend of ours in Hoboken, Joanne. He produces music and tried out to produce the theme song for Live With Regis and Kelly. Joanne and I both worked at the show at that time, so we submitted his theme song. Right away, I knew he was creative, which I liked! It’s hard to find an Indian guy who has a creative side to him! She introduced us and we became friends. We bonded over our creative interests and realized we had a lot in common.
We dated for about 2 and a half years before he proposed. He proposed in Vegas, Superbowl weekend 2012 which is funny because we both don’t like sports and I don’t really care for Vegas..hahah. However, we absolutely love the Beatles (actually on our second date he took me to see a Beatles cover band at BB King, he got points for that!). Anyway, we went to the Beatles LOVE Show (cirque de soleil) and after the show he got down on one knee and proposed. I have a video that’s attached to this. His best friend and my brother were there to celebrate with us!
We chose Turks and Caicos because we actually went there the summer of 2011 for a quick vacation. We instantly fell in love with the place. As soon as we got there, he actually asked the hotel staff if anyone had had an Indian wedding at the hotel…or for that matter, on the island! So in the back of my mind I always knew he wanted to do it there. When the time came to pick a location, there was no doubt in our minds that the Turks and Caicos was where it was going to be!
